Losing My Religion

In 2022 my friend Joyce and I decided to create our own Passover Seder. Neither one of us had been invited anywhere; she had copies of the Haggadah and I vowed to find recipes for a couple of traditional dishes. Joyce set her dining table with her grandmother’s China, lit candles and served a brisket with roasted potatoes. I had spent the day following instructions to make tzimmes (a side dish of sweetened carrots or yams) and charoset with apples, walnuts and honey that had been one of my favorites from the Seders hosted by my now ex-husband’s aunt and uncle.
